Research and Innovation
Research and innovation is a major priority for the EU, building on key European experiences. The development of research and innovation requires coordination and cooperation and today it is hampered by the fact that various technical centers and institutes, etc. are not cooperating. The EU promotes cooperation and aims to coordinate efforts in order to create an inner market for research and innovation. The structure of this initiative is called the European Research Area, ERA. It gathers all the common funding in one place to better coordinate the research and to make sure that the strategies for research and innovation coincides on the national and European levels.
During 2011 Mid Sweden European Office will among other things monitor the work programme of “Horizon 2020” and the initiative Innovation Union.
