Health
In the field of health policy we focus on the following areas (the emphasis varies depending on what is going on in the region and in the EU).
- Public health
- Healthcare
- Health in the working life
- E-Health
Health care is basically a national responsibility but is still affected greatly by EU policy work in other areas. For example the Services Directive, the Directive for equal treatment in employment and occupation and last but not least, the Directive on patients’ rights in cross-border healthcare.
EU’s health strategy came into force 2008 and is valid until 2013. The main objective with the strategy is to improve the quality of life for all the citizens of the EU and it is financed by 365 million euro a year.
Mid Sweden European Office meets and convey contacts for European cooperation and best practice exchange that can contribute to the responsible authorities’ preventive and health promoting work or to create a health care that can manage the demographic changes.
